[SOLVED] error during installation process

Hello,

I was using Zwrap 1.0.3 since now (under license), until i wanted to install 1.0.4. (I’m on Zbrush 2018)

At the first installation all seemed right but once in Zbrush the program was saying 1.0.3 still.
So i removed manually 1.0.3 from folder, but now when I install 1.0.4 again it says “Error during installation process… Cannot create directory …/ZWrap”
If i ignore the message the install continues but no plugin in menu.

I tried to launch with admin rights.

Thanks for helping !
Dave

Ok, i figured out by myself the solution but not the cause (I believe)

I created myself the folders, so I had no error from the installer, but folders were empty at the end, so I search for ‘ZWrap.zsc’ on hard drive and explorer found all the stuff there :
“C:\VTRoot\HarddiskVolume3\Program Files\Pixologic\ZBrush 2018\ZStartup\ZPlugs64”
I moved them to Zbrush and it works fine now.

Might this help the devs :stuck_out_tongue:

Me again

It is getting worse since I removed that VTroot folder, it seems Zwrap was pointing to it, now I get something like car QT5***.dll are missing, and if I try to reinstall ZWrap it tells me this :
Cannot start blabla “Uninstall.exe --script=path blabla auto_uninstall.qs” Process failed to start: No such file or directory

I’ll try to fix it but I wanted let you know first
Dave

EDIT : restoring VTroot folder from trashcan made the program run back but after a wrap test and clicking done, a blinking message (“zwrap is running, please wait for process…”) never end, only by hitting escape, which cancel the wrapping.. I’ll try to return to 1.0.3

Hello Dave,

Did you move ZBrush directory after installation?
ZWrap installer getting information about ZBrush from Windows Registry, so it may be confused during installation if the directory does not exist anymore.
I would also note that plugin installing in a directory …\Program Files\R3DS\ZWrap\ then it’s copied to ZBrush directory (e.t., …\Program Files\Pixologic\ZBrush ver). For properly plugin uninstallation original folder should be remain.

Hello Yaroslav,

No I didn’t move anything, I just launched the 1.0.4 installer when 1.0.3 worked fine.

Now I don’t know what to do, I clean the registry, uninstalled 1.0.3 and 1.0.4, and both doesn’t work anymore, it installs to that VTroot on C: so Zbrush don’t find the plugin, then when i move every thing in VTroot (even Users files stuff) and laucn Zwrap it tells me “can’t open params.txt”

Thank for answering, I’m lost right now

Does this key exist in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\R3DS\ZWrap ?

If so, try to delete it and reinstall 1.0.4 version. It should catch ZBrush path and install plugin correctly.
No manual files moving is needed.

If you want I can send you zip archive to install ZWrap manually.

Yaroslav,
I tried to remove that key you mentionned, then I tried to reinstall but it said  “Cannot start Uninstall.exe --script=path …etc… auto_uninstall.qs” Process failed to start: No such file or directory"

So I clicked Ignore then my antivirus Comodo said the install could be infected by Cryptolocker, I did ignored though.
Then when I try Zwrap in Zbrush it says Qt5Concurrent, Qt5OpenGl, and 2 others files, are missing.

Pretty weird

Good news,

I figured out that the problem was from Comodo, even in ghost mode he was moving files in quarantine (the VTroot folder !), so I turned off Comodo and the install worked, at last !

Thanks for help
