Marvelous Designer scripts

Greetings,

I need to make a purchase decision about which one of your products to buy. I am interested in making custom Marvelous Designer avatars from 3D scans. I saw your tutorial on how to do this using WrapX, but I prefer to buy your latest version of Wrap3.x. Is this feature available in Wrap 3.3 or must I purchase WrapX to access it?

Thanks for your advice.
regards, Jimmy.

Hi Jimmy,

I highly recommend you to buy Wrap3, because it has much better wrapping algorithm, especially for full-body cases. Wrap3 doesn’t have a functionality to export MD avatar, but very soon we are releasing a beta version of our autorig tool that takes an FBX rig and fit it to a mesh in the same topology, then export back to FBX. You can then import the FBX file into MD and use it there.

Until then you can use another workaround and rig your wrapped model using free Mixamo service producing an FBX file. Both solutions won’t provide you with arrangement points and bounding volumes though.

Please let me know if it works for you.

Thank you Andrew.

So the way I understand it, I can wrap the 3d scan to MD topology and fit an fbx rig to it, then I can import into MD? What if I bought wrap3 for the wrapping and wrapX for importing into MD with arrangement points. In other words, buy both products. Would that solve my problem?

Hi Jimmy,

Yes, they can be used in combination. You can also try wrapping a standard Wrap basemesh to your model, rig it in Mixamo and import in FBX. To me, it would be more convenient approach even though I wouldn’t have arrangement points. It would be more convenient when we release the autorigging tool.

waitting all the time for the auto rigging software ,sound very cool ,import fbx software and transfer skin weight ,love it ,I see you sir

I ventured to ask that do you still have plan to release the beta of your autorig tool?
I’m looking forward to this because mixamo works badly for non-human or plump-female model
Or do you have some other autorig software to recommend?
