Just got my license today without knowing texture support was just added. My excitement level was peaking as I got home and realized that it did, but unfortunately I was unable to get a texture to load, even on the demo scene.
The platform supported is win 7, I’m on win 8. I haven’t run into any other limited functionality, but could the OS be my culprit?
Is there plan for win 8 support? If so, could there be a work around I could use temporarily, or if no win 8 support, then a permanent fix I could hack together?
First of all thank you so much for buying Wrap! Can you please provide some more info about the problem:
Do you have “Failed to load texture” message as you hit Load Texture button and select an image file?
Does it show the texture as black or any other wrong way?
Does it just crash when you are trying to load a texture?
As a possible work around please try to load texture of small size like 2000x2000 and let me know if it works.
As the product is young we have not done any tests with Win 8. But it seems like we do have problems related to that OS. We will do some tests shortly (in a day or two) and I hope find some solution.
UPD: I have just sent you an email with some fixes that might solve your problem
Thanks so much Andrew for the quick reply and the extra mile getting me an email fix. Your awesome!
It didn’t seem the the email fix solved my issue at first, but it may have since I did some more troubleshooting after applying it and got it working. I tested out several different formats at various resolutions. and Eureka! I got bmp and png to work from 1k up to 4k. I tried tga, tif, and jpg, none of which worked at smaller or the same resolutions and they produced the same error as before.
To answer our questions:
***Do you have “Failed to load texture” message as you hit Load Texture button and select an image file?
I get the error after I selected the texture and pressed open in the dialogue box. The software returns to the main ui with the “failed to load” error and without a texture
***Does it show the texture as black or any other wrong way?
it didn’t show the texture at all
***Does it just crash when you are trying to load a texture?
It doesn’t crash, I can continue to work just with not textures.
***As a possible work around please try to load texture of small size like 2000x2000 and let me know if it works.
I tired everything from the supplied to texture to a very small 16 x16 jpeg, all with the same errors.
Thanks again for help Andrew, I look forward to future updates!
Yes, sorry, I meant to reply to this thread - I bumped the timeout up to 20 or 30 seconds from 5 seconds for the release, hopefully that should give it enough time to load.
