Displacement map

hi there,it look like it´s a great tool with a smart aproach to solve the problem with blendshapes and “dirty” meshes from a scan,congratulations,but it seem so simple UI,did you expect implement more tools?i´d like to suggest there was a “displacement map” extraccion from the hi-res model that exactly match in the new clean low-poly mesh?i think it could make R3DS an essential tool in the toolbox of modelers and animators…thanks in advance cause i thought you have think about,good luck¡¡

PS:not only for windows 7,i´ve instaled it in XP (SP3) and it works fine ¡¡

I’m very impressed what you are trying to archive with your software. I’ll test it out soon.

One question: Are there any news on displacement maps?

My dream workflow:

  • wrap base model to 3d Scan
  • transfer texture to base model
  • calculate displacement map
  • animate base model
  • render animated base model with displacement map

Hello Martin,

Sorry for late response and thank you for the feedback. We have not added displacement baking yet. The reason is that Wrap currently doesn’t support floating-point textures. It is something we should think of, but I’m not sure if we can implement it shortly.
