Can't run Zwrap

Hi,

I hope that someone can help. I would like to use Zwrap, so I downloaded the trial version. Problem is that I can not start Zwrap from within (or execute directly) Zbrush. I get an OpenGL error. (I downloaded the OpenGL Test zip files from another thread in an attempt to troubleshoot this problem. But no luck). I get this error message (image 1). In the second screen shot you can see that I have OpenGL 3 for my graphics card installed. BUT, in screen shot 3 you can see for the GDI Generic, only OpenGL 1.1 is installed.

I did some extensive research on how to update my graphics card drivers etc. But nothing I found on the internet resolves this problem. I can not find a way to disable the GDI Generic ‘card’ and only use the Intel card/drivers/OpenGL renderer. I can also not find a config file, or settings that I can change for Zwrap to use the OpenGL 3 renderer/Intel graphics card.

I am really at a loss here and do not know what else to attempt.

I hope that the creators of this application can help resolve this issue because I can not think that I am the only one with this problem.

Thank you in advance.
Theo.

Hello,

Could you please press “Win+R” buttons, then type “dxdiag” command (without brackets), ignore signature checking if asked, and then switch to “Display” tab and then attach a screenshot of it?

Ivan

Hi,

thank you for taking the time in getting back to me. I had to take two screen shots, as I had to scroll down for you to see all of the information. Please see the attached images.

Thank you in advance.

I would like to add that I have a dual boot machine with Windows 7 installed (I almost never use it anymore, but still don’t want to uninstall Windows 7 just yet).

Last night while I was hunting once more for a solution to this problem, I decided to boot into Windows 7. I then installed ZWrap from the previous download and opened Zbrush. From there, Zwrap works! I only opened it though, not played with it.

The graphics card obviously hasn’t changed, only the OS. So we know that even though it is no longer supported by Windows or Intel, the graphics card is capable of the task. So I even copied the drivers from windows 7 over to an external drive and rebooted into Windows 10 and manually installed the drivers(yes, I know Windows 7 drivers won’t necessarily work with Windows 10, but it is worth a shot for me). I then proceeded and tried Zwrap, but no luck. back to the same error message.

So it is safe to say that the problem lies within Windows 10 not fully recognizes the driver for the Intel HD 3000 card, although it IS capaple of supporting OpenGL 3(and your Zbrush plugin). This however is where my PC skills come to an end. I do not know anything about programming or manipulating Windows NOT to use the GDI Generic card for Zwrap, but rather forcing Zwrap to “look at” the Intel HD 3000 card instead?

I would appreciate any help in resolving this matter, IF possible. It will be a shame if we cn’t fix it, because Zwrap looks promising.

Thanks in advance.
Théo.
