About remaining disconnected polygon components on the floating geometry

Hello everyone,

I would like to wrap a head onto a base mesh.
I cannot start computing the wrapping because “floating geometry contains xxx disconnected polygon components, should be one”.
Effectively, as I import my .OBJ file into ZBrush, ZBrush detects “unconnected vertices” to be deleted.
I deleted them.
I reexported the .OBJ file.
As I import it again into ZBrush, everything is fine.
But after reloading, the error is still there in Wrap 3.4.
How can I manage it?
Thanks.

The base mesh is about 8M polygons.
The head mesh is about 1M polygons.
I am warned about 20K unconnected polygons.

Do you have any idea please?

Hi!

For the wrapping process floating geometry must be manifold.
When you wrapping scan onto basemesh, try to fix your scan using RepairGeom node. It converts non-manifold topology to manifold. Also this node provides info about invalid polygons, singular and isolated vertices.

Please let me know if it?s working for you.
Feel free if you have more questions.

Here?s the doc about the node:

Hi,

Thanks for reply.
First I directly connected the Geometry node to Wrapping node, I got the warning “Manifold”.
I then used the RepairGeom node and the warning “Unconnected polygon components”.
I’ve been using several 3D Modeling software.
They usually fix unconnected vertices, not polygons.
I can’t see how to manage this.
May I kindly suggest to send you my model on private message?
Thank you.

Sure!

I’ll do my best to resolve your problem.
