DAZ3D Genesis support

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has successfully wrapped a scan with a Genesis model from DAZ3D.

The Software and model are free and would open a huge market to 3d scanners.

Daz3D is free for non-commercial use, but for commercial use you need to purchase their license.

I’ve wrapped over Victoria 6. The cool thing with using Daz characters for base mesh is that you can re-pose the Daz character to be closer to the scanned mesh. You’ll have to clean up the Daz character a bit in order to use it, like remove floating geometry, non-manifold edges, etc…

It would be nice to use the original Daz base from the scan back as a morph in Daz.

In my case it would enable some extra posing and adding hair/shoes.

I’m stumped in 3DS Max. I detach the floating geometry, do a Wrap X, and re-combine the detached geometry using align to vertex.
This is fine for my purpose - I have a “nice” model from the scan. It is for non-commercial work producing images anyway.

For some reason detach & attach in 3DS Max changes the vertex order, I’m not sure why just now.
Maybe if I don’t import it as a single mesh but I think I’ll have problems with vertex count with welding/unwelding.

I’d like to get a method before starting my final wrap x scans on the whole set!

Must be possible - I’ll try some more.
